Only a few things are as relaxing as lounging around a beautiful garden. Whether you love the natural scenery or want to grow your own produce, both are highly relaxing and pleasurable experiences for a homeowner like you.

However, the garden is one of the more difficult areas to keep tidy. It can be pretty messy, not only because you’re working on dirt, yet also because of the different items found there.

If your garden makes you feel stressed when you look at it instead of feeling relaxed, you need to start decluttering and organizing as soon as possible. This is particularly true if you can’t find what you need in the toolshed or guess which plants grow where.

To help you get started, this post shares a step-by-step process for decluttering and organizing your garden. Keep on reading to learn more.

  • Do An Assessment

Decluttering and organizing the garden starts with fully understanding its current situation. Regardless of its size, you’ll find things out of place, from a rake resting under a tree to stray plants and weeds.

So, take the time to walk around your garden. Check any items out of place and note what can be done. This helps you better plan how to tackle your garden decluttering project.

Organize and store: Keep gardening tools, hoses, and equipment in designated storage areas to reduce clutter

  • Create A Schedule

Generally, most homeowners focus more on doing indoor household chores. Thus, the garden is often neglected, resulting in hoarding and stuffing of garden tools in the garden shed, ignoring broken pots, and overlooking outgrown weeds and dead branches.

Depending on the size of your garden, the amount of clutter and garden waste you have, and how much time you have in a day, your decluttering project can take a day or week to finish.

Hence, you want to set a schedule for your garden decluttering project. This way, you can focus on this task alone. In addition, make sure to have a completion date for the project to keep you accountable and prevent you from postponing it.

  • Look For A Rubbish Removal Company

If you’re expecting a lot of garden waste, you should consider hiring a reliable rubbish removal company like this. Doing so helps streamline your garden waste disposal, ensuring a faster debris cleanup.

Generally, these rubbish removal companies will load up your garden waste in your home and haul them away for a price. This is an excellent option if you wish to remove any garden waste you accumulated during the decluttering process, saving you time and effort.

  • Organize The Shed

The tool shed is the catch-all place for all things gardening–from gardening tools to unused or broken pots. Your gardening supplies and tools should be stored and organized better.

To start, you want to remove all items from the shed. Categorize each item into two– to throw away and to keep. Once everything is removed, clean the area. If you want to maximize your shed’s space, consider adding storage organization solutions, including cabinets and hooks. This allows you to stay on top of everything inside your garden shed.

Once your shed is neat, make sure to keep it that way. Don’t leave items where you last used them and store them properly in your shed. This way, you’ll spend more time in your garden than searching for tools in your shed.

  • Sort Your Greenery

With your garden tools and supplies stored away neatly, it’s easier to assess what work should be done with the garden itself. When you start sorting your greenery, start from top to bottom. This means you should start pruning trees, shrubs and hedges. Take this time to cut away diseased wood or stray branches. Trimming your plants can instantly make your garden look less overcrowded.

After pruning, you can mow the lawn and edge it neatly. Just check the grass for toys, rocks, and other large debris that can damage your mower. After mowing, work your way through the borders, getting rid of stray grass and weeds. Don’t forget to remove weeds on planters and raised bedding. This will take time, but you’ll have a cleaner and tidier garden once you pull out the weeds.

  • Clean And Repair Garden Furniture And Decor

If you have a garden seating set or other furniture, include them in your cleaning and decluttering project. Depending on the material, you can clean garden furniture or features like stone seats or fountains. Look at garden decor to see if they need repair or a good scrub.

Takeaway

Having a green thumb isn’t enough to create a beautiful garden. Regular decluttering and organizing are necessary to ensure your garden’s aesthetics and functionality. A well-organized and tidy garden communicates calm and order, providing a welcoming outdoor area where you and your family can bond and relax.
