If you want to maintain the smooth, hairless skin you’ve got after a laser hair removal treatment, you’ve got to care for it right. To do that, it’s important to know what to do and what not to do to maintain the results of your treatment.

In this article, we’ll help you maintain your smooth skin. That way you can sport a bikini or a one-piece with confidence.

Read on to find out how to care for your skin after underarm laser hair removal treatment.

Wear SPF Sunscreen

Even if you don’t plan to be in the sun for a long time, sunscreen is important in helping you maintain the results from getting laser hair removal treatment. Sunscreen helps to protect your skin from harmful UV rays, preventing hyperpigmentation. First, wash your underarms with a gentle cleanser before applying sunscreen, as debris and sweat can prevent sunscreen from penetrating the skin properly.

Apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher every 2-3 hours. A minimum of 1 ounce of sunscreen should be applied all over your body, including your underarms. Finally, don’t forget to apply sunscreen to the back of your neck and across your chest, as these areas can easily be subjected to the sun’s rays.

Keep the Area Clean

Start by gently washing the area once a day with mild soap and warm water. Ensure you do not scrub harshly as this can irritate the area. Pat the area dry with a clean towel. You may apply an antiseptic cream to the area if instructed by your doctor.

Avoid using any perfumes or scented soaps as this can irritate the treated area. Additionally, avoid exposing the skin for long periods of time to direct sunlight. Wear light, breathable clothing that will not aggravate the area.

Following the procedure, use cold compresses or ice packs as this may help soothe the area and reduce any irritation. Finally, remember to visit your doctor should you notice any swelling, redness, or post-procedure discomfort to help prevent infection.

Always Moisturize

Start your moisturization routine within the first 24 hours after permanent hair removal, which will help aid in the skin recovery process, and prevent any discomfort. Start with a creamy moisturizer, which will give your skin the hydration it needs. Make sure to apply it twice a day, once in the morning and once before you go to bed. It will also help keep ingrown hairs away.

Go for a product that contains natural oils such as Argan oil and cocoa butter, as these ingredients will help restore your skin’s natural oils that have been stripped away during the laser hair removal treatment. Taking care of moisturizing your skin throughout the entire process and after the treatment is complete will ensure that your skin is in the best shape possible and leave it looking and feeling healthy.
