How to Use Wax Pens

VWB Blog 2 years ago 10

The recreational use of cannabis is legal in over 19 states, the district of Washington, D.C., and the territory of Guam. Some states may never open up to the use of cannabis; however, there is clearly a trend occurring.

Since cannabis began to be legalized throughout the country, the cannabis market has exploded. There are countless ways to ingest cannabis these days. Wax pens are one of the most popular.

Check out the information below to figure out what wax pens are and how to use them.

What Is a Wax Pen?

A wax pen is also known as a dab pen. Cannabis wax, also known as dabs or butane hash oil, is a form of concentrated cannabis. It can contain up to 80% tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the psychoactive compound found in cannabis. However, there are also waxes with low amounts of THC, like CBG wax.

The process of achieving this concentrate is complex and a bit dangerous. It requires special equipment, which can be expensive and difficult to source. Additionally, processing cannabis with butane is a highly flammable process, and if this solvent is not evaporated correctly, the product will be toxic.

How to Use Wax Pens

There are many different ways to smoke cannabis wax — using a wax pen is one of the easiest methods.

Wax pens usually have a heating coil element inside to create smokable vapor. In contrast to a dab rig, you can insert the wax before heating the coils.

After loading the cannabis wax, you can turn on the wax pen. Typically, this is done by hitting the power button a few times. Try to draw long, smooth hits.

Different Kinds of Wax

Three types of wax can be used in most wax pens. These types include crumble, shatter, and oil.

Crumble, also known as honeycomb wax, is a hard type of wax. It’s named for its crumbly texture when handled. This type of wax is not limited to dabbing but can be crumbled into other combustible methods, like joints or pipes.

Shatter is reputed to be one of the cleanest forms of wax. It looks like transparent, honey-colored glass, making it a bit difficult to manipulate into a vape pen.

With oil, you may need to load it into the wax chamber directly or use an oil cartridge. No matter what type of wax you use, make sure not to overload the chamber. That may either overload the heating coil or short circuit the pen.

Purchasing a Wax Pen

Figuring out how to use wax pens is much more straightforward than using a traditional dab rig. This is one of the main benefits of investing in a high-quality wax pen. When shopping for one, make sure to look for a pen with a rechargeable lithium-ion battery, turns off automatically and has a one-year warranty.
