How to Get White Teeth: 3 Easy Tips

VWB Blog 2 years ago 5

Did you know that more than 78% of people in the United States alone are unhappy with the appearance of their teeth?

This dissatisfaction often comes from stained or discolored teeth. Having discolored teeth is a very common problem, and fortunately, there are several ways in which you can whiten them.

Keep reading and learn more about how to get white teeth.

1. Brush Your Teeth With Baking Soda

Brushing your teeth with baking soda has long been a classic teeth whitening option. If you don’t feel like going to the dentist, simply put some baking soda on your toothbrush and start brushing. While baking soda may seem like a soft, white powder, it is actually made up of very tiny abrasive particles.

When you brush these particles against your teeth, they will scrape off the top layer of your tooth enamel which usually holds any discoloration. After enough brushing, you will reveal the fresh, white tooth enamel underneath. The downside to this method is that if you do it too often, you could damage your teeth and end up with tooth sensitivity.

2. Avoid Products That Stain Your Teeth

If you want to have beautiful teeth, you may have to limit certain foods and drinks. In particular, drinks with dark pigment tend to stain tooth enamel. For example, coffee, red wine, and cranberry juice all have the potential to stain your teeth.

Does this mean that you have to drop these drinks altogether? Not necessarily. If you can’t live without your morning coffee or a glass of red wine with dinner, then make sure you brush your teeth right after drinking them.

As long as you brush your teeth right away, the pigment from these drinks won’t have the chance to sit around and stain your tooth enamel.

3. Go to the Dentist

Perfect smiles can be hard to achieve without a five-star dental experience. That’s why going to the dentist to get your teeth whitened can be so effective. When you get your teeth whitened at the dentist’s office, your dentist will apply a gel made out of hydrogen peroxide.

This hydrogen peroxide is highly concentrated and very strong. This high concentration is why professional teeth whitening produces more dramatic results compared to a whitening toothpaste that only contains a low concentration of hydrogen peroxide. The hydrogen peroxide gel will slowly eat away at the stains on your teeth and lift them away from your tooth enamel.

After about 30 minutes, your dentist will rinse off the gel and you can admire how white your teeth are. The great thing about professional teeth whitening is that it is much safer for your teeth compared to DIY methods like brushing your teeth with baking soda.
