Here are some questions I've been asked recently...
1) What do you want to do after you get your degree?
For those of you who don't know. I'm studying Social Work. I want to be a grievance counselor in a hospital. So, when a surgery goes wrong, or when someone dies, or when someone has a traumatic accident or anything like that, I would be there to help the families and the patient. I'd really like to work in Labor and Delivery and help new mothers with loss, postpartum, or if they are giving their child up for adoption. I was deciding if I should be a nurse or a school teacher about two years ago, so I decided to take a job as a housekeeper at my local hospital. I already had a lot of work and volunteer experience working in schools and with children, so I thought I'd get some hospital experience. I worked all over the hospital, but the nurses in the NICU requested that I be the permanent house keeper. I told them about my schooling and how I was trying to decide, and they taught me all about nursing, then one day, a mother lost her baby. It was such a solemn day, and the Social Worker was there all day, normally she would get there after I left. I was just so inspired, and new that's what I was suppose to do.
I'm a very sensitive soul, so don't ask me how I'm going to do it. I have no idea, it will be a very emotionally taxing job, but I feel people going through hard experiences deserve someone who's going to put their heart and soul into helping them, and that's me.
This decision was set in stone after I had gone through my accident. I knew that because of going through this, I'd have unique skills and a perspective that could make a difference.
2). Do you have a boyfriend?
Ha. Oh lanta. No. The stories I could tell you. The last time I had a boyfriend and let my bloggy friends know, he dumped me two weeks later.
I have very very very bad luck when it comes to the fellas. I've been through a lot in my little life, so it may have to do with the fact that I'm slightly picky... but, I'll be honest. I have a hard time opening up and trusting guys. I've just been hurt too much. (I'm only 22, so I'm good coasting in the love department.)
If you REALLY want to know, email me. Haha. I have no problem telling you my horror stories.
But, no. I don't have a boyfriend. I'm currently dating my blog.
If you know of an intelligent, hard working, curly haired man, with a British accent, please, send him my way.
3) Why are you so awesome?
Really? No. I'm not. But, Vintage Wanna Bee is awesome because of all of YOU.
4) How did you think of your blog name?
Vintage- Let's be honest. I was born in the wrong era.
Wanna Be- I was super intimated by blogging, and felt like a wanna be.
Bee- I don't know... I thought it was funny to change it to "bee". Sometimes, I crack myself up, thinking I'm all clever and junk.
5) How do you stay motivated?
This is hard. I'll be honest, some days I have ZERO motivation. I just blog because I feel obligated to. One time, I blogged about how it was the time of the month, and I was watching a chick flick. I just needed something to blog about, and that's all I could come up with.
I think that the important thing with blogging is to do it for you. I blog, because it gives me a much needed outlet for creativity and to feel productive. I NEED this blog right now. It's been a stable, constant thing when my life has just been crazy.
If you're stuck in a rut, I suggest you let yourself be in a rut. If you can't think of something, that's okay. Blog about that. The important thing in life is to keep moving forward, even if you're only moving inches every hour, the important thing is to still move forward. It's easy to get caught up in comparisons in "blog world", but if you really started blogging to become famous... that's weird. I suggest if that's your motivation, take a small business loan and grow that way, I don't know how else you would do it. For the rest of us, just move forward, bee yourself and enjoy the ride.
6) How did you start out selling online? Did you advertise?
Actually, I'm only now starting to buy ads. I traded before, or... honestly, I have no idea how people found me but they did. I'm just really blessed, I wish I had all these awesome bits of wisdom.
But, I would suggest spreading the work about your shop once you decide to open. I had my blog first, and had gotten requests to open a shop. After that, Vintage Wanna Bee got bigger and became more than I ever expected.
If you're just starting, you could offer your products to blogs for a product review or giveaway in exchange for ad space. I would suggest starting with blogs that have less than 1,000 followers. Dream big, but be realistic. If you work with smaller blogs, you both will be gaining something. Giveaways really help smaller blogs get attention but word of mouth, and your product is being talked about and looked at.
If you have questions, please, feel free to email me, I'd love to help if I can.
7) Are you related to Amy Adams?
No, but I'm her stunt double. Joke. I'm not. Haha. But yes, I get told I look like her on a weekly, sometimes daily basis.
8) What has been one of your successes that got you to where you are today?
Honestly, THE REASON that I'm here today, is because I've meet some amazing bloggy friends that have helped me. You know, Little Miss Momma right? Right, of course you do. I owe Ashley so much. I have no idea why she helped me out so much, she didn't need to, but she did. She's awesome. I also advertised on Gussy Sews for a month. But, the main thing has been my "normal" bloggy friends. The ones that are just like me. We've helped each other, and I feel we all have gained from it. I'm forever indebted to so many of them. (Maria from Agape Love Designs, Heather from Just Lovely Things, Elise from Elise's Pieces, Kelsey from Smitten by a Promise just to name a few.)
9) What's your favorite color?
Green. You'd think it would be pink or teal, but no. It's green.
10) How tall are you?
Ha. I'm 5'7. Pretty tall for a blogger, I feel like all of you are 5'2. I'm the tallest girl in my family, so... genes should have made me small. But no, I'm average. Not tall, not short, just Nichelle. If you ever meet me, you'll find I'm the definition of average.
11) What is your most embarrassing moment?
Hahaha. Honestly, I wish I had a fantastic story, but I forget all of the times I'm embarrassed. I just laugh it off. Sometimes, things come out of my mouth before I can stop them. I'm a very reserved, conservative girl, but sometimes, the dirtiest things come of my mouth unintentionally, and I don't realise how naughty they are until people are laughing. And trust me, they laugh. A lot. It's just not the type of thing I say, so when I accidentally say something (on accident!) I guess it's super funny because it's coming out of my mouth.
It could just be, that I'm hilarious. I've got the wit of a comedic genius. Just kidding, but, really, I'm not that funny, but people think I am.... figure that one out.
12) How do we work with you on your blog? Giveaways, product reviews, guest posts?
Currently, you can only do a giveaway if you are sponsor, or if we have some other arrangement. (Violet Hill just did a giveaway on my blog, because I sell items at their store, so we have other business arrangements.)
If you can't afford to be a sponsor, I do product reviews and guest posts for free. Email me and I'll work with you any way that I can. I'm pretty chill and nice. Or, I try to be.
XOXO
Nichelle

Nice. And yes, we are all 5'2".

hahahah love those goofy pictures <3
Loved reading this, Nichelle, and I think if anyone can be a grief counselor, it is you. Actually, you are the kind of person who would succeed at anything you put your hand to.
Great post Nichelle! I read it the other day on my cell, but couldnt comment. But I had to come back and tell you I totally love you! :)
I got chills when you explained why you want to be a social worker. I wish I had someone kind like you to talk to me when I had gone through my miscarriages. A couple of the nurses/Doctors were less than considerate considering what I had just gone through. The world needs more people with a heart like yours!
Also...My fav color is green too! And I know people probably assume mine is pink too. LOL But Its green.
Great post, you are wonderful!
BTW...Thank you so much for the shout out, that totally made my day. Thank YOU for being so kind and always willing to help me and others out.

Thanks so much for answering ?'s like these~ I see a giveaway in my future ;)
Ha! What a fun idea for a blog post!
I get what you mean about being a sensitive soul. I was studying Marriage and Family Therapy for awhile but decided it would be too hard on me to constantly be around difficult emotions. I'm such a sponge for every type of emotion around me!
PS: Take heart. I'm 5'9", so now you're not the tallest blogger out there! ;P
